Engraved ‘Big Pilot’s Heritage Watch 48’ on caseback
Together with Heritage 55, these are the first hand‐wound Big Pilots since the original IWC Ref 431 ‘b‐Uhr’ of 1940 & IW500301 Bühler. As a hand-wound model with large crown, ordinarily it would be easy to overwind and damage the mechanism however this is prevented with a friction clutch.


Sub‐dial at 6 o’clock is reminiscent of IWC’s Ref 436 pilot watch from 1936
