Starting in late 2005 early 2006, IWC introduced the new calibre 51110 in the original big pilot with a higher 3Hz movement. This was for a brief period of time before the redesigned IW500401 was publicly released later in 2006. These 5002s with a higher-beat movement are called 'transitional' BPs. There is no known record of how many transitional BPs were manufactured. Various collectors believe 5002s with a serial number 314XXXX and higher are these 'transitional' BPs, however the only way to verify the movement is with time-lapse photography of the second hand movement. A Probus Scafusia marking on the crown (instead of the original fish) on a BP is not confirmation of a transitional BP because IWCs normally replace fish crowns BPs with Probus Scafusia crowns (unless specifically requested not to).
